About

Calvary Chapel

Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills is a non-denominational church serving the town of Fountain Hills, Arizona, since 2011.

Mission

Our purpose is to share the good news of the Gospel in a world that is short on good news. We trust the Word of God, the Bible, as it brings clarity to our lives. We invite you to join us as we seek to grow together in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Values

Regardless of what we are involved in, these four values define who we are at Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills:

  • Motivated by life-applicable, transformational Bible teaching
  • We thrive on worship in song
  • We encourage the fellowship of the flock as one person sharpens the character of another
  • We participate in community, and service-based outreach
Pastor Chuck Smith

The History of Calvary Chapel

In 1965, Pastor Chuck Smith began his ministry work at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California, with a pint-size congregation of just 25 people. Within a couple of years, the church grew to two services and shortly thereafter relocated to a larger property near the beach.

In a move that shocked many within the congregation, Chuck and his wife, Kay, reached out to hippies during the 1960s Summer of Love in which the Jesus People Movement sprung out of. God was doing something amazing! Countless hippies and surfers came into relationship with Jesus. Soon the chapel moved to an even larger property to accommodate the tent services that saw over 2,000 attendees.

Like now, the focus has always been to reach people of all generations and all demographics without being judgmental, while emphasizing the teachings of the Bible just as they are intended to be taught.

Today, Calvary Chapel has grown to over 1,800 churches worldwide. It is absolutely amazing what God can do with a simple, “Here I am, Lord. Use me.”

Fast Forward to 2004

While serving at Calvary Chapel of Queen Creek, God placed His desire in the hearts of Rick and Cheryl Ponzo in 2007, to go plant a new church. During the next 4 years they prayed for God to open the door to plant a Calvary Chapel, and they agreed the Lord was leading them to Fountain Hills.

In 2011, with the blessing of Pastor Jim Remington of Calvary Queen Creek, Pastor Rick planted Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills. In the early days, the church met at the old Four Peaks Elementary School. Then in 2017, Calvary Chapel moved to their current location one block west of Fountain Park on the corner of Parkview and Verde River Drive.

Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills is a non-denominational church serving the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona. Our primary focus is to help people grow in their relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through the study and teaching of His word, the Bible.

Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills is a church that meets people wherever they are at spiritually, and helps them find the specific call of God on their lives.  Sometimes it is within the church, ministering to others. Sometimes it is supporting events in the community. Reaching those both near and far with the saving grace of Jesus is our utmost desire.

We invite you to join us for Sunday Service at 10:00am. We also meet on alternating Wednesday Evenings for Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies at 6:30pm. Check with the church for a schedule of those studies, and other Wednesday evening events. Information about other services and studies can be found under Connect in the website menu.

Pastor Rick and his wife Cheryl are blessed to have the privilege of serving the people of Fountain Hills.

*Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills is in fellowship with the Calvary Chapel Association of churches.
